Angvall and wife Judy, have been members of the Lester Prairie community for 30 years. They have two daughters, Laura and Emily.

Experience & Public Service

  • Mayor of Lester Prairie for 14 years, council member for 2 years, Park Board member currently
  • Owner and operator of Angvall Hardware and Mercantile in Lester Prairie for 15 years
  • Active member and board member of the Lester Prairie Business Association
  • President of local church 8 years
  • Senior Corporate Forecaster for an international food company for 20 years
  • Elected member of the Tech Prep-Schools to Careers Executive Council for the Mid-Minnesota Consortium. This state-supported high school project encourages high school students to view varied career opportunities in technical fields.
  • Founded Lester Prairie’s Youth Task Force. The Task Force is a collaboration of local pastors and community leaders that coordinates monthly free lunches and other activities for high school students. The activities provide a bridge for the town’s youth to connect with older generations, demonstrate the value of youth in the community, and promote a drug-free lifestyle.
  • Appointed to the Citizen Advisory Task Force for the Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources. Reviewed grant requests and recommended funding priorities.
  • Appointed to the State Community Energy Council, Grant Review Committee. Studied proposals and recommended funding to the Commissioner of Public Service.
  • Serves as “potato-man” for nearly 30 years, working in the kitchen for the regionally renowned Lutefisk Dinner served annually by Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
  • Featured speaker for the Annual Conference of Community Energy Programs in 1990.
  • Subject: The Linking of Energy Conservation to Economic Development
  • Founded the Northern Minnesota Recycling Collection Center, Bemidji, MN.
  • This was the first in the county and third in Minnesota.
  • Co-founded APO National Service Fraternity, Bemidji State University chapter
  • Local substitute teacher and youth advocate
  • Longtime environmentalist

  • Bemidji State University graduate with degree in biology and earth science
  • Pro Deo Et Patria, highest Boy Scout award from the Lutheran Church
  • Governor’s Commendation Award in 1989 for creating the City Energy Council
  • Governor Rudy Perpich declared October 4, 1989 as “Eric Angvall Day in Minnesota”.
  • This honor recognized leadership in developing statewide energy saving programs.
  • Featured on a WCCO TV segment during Earth Week in 1990 and 1992
