Hutchinson Leader Endorses Angvall

The Hutchinson Leader newspaper has endorsed Eric Angvall as their choice for district 18A:
“Former Lester Prairie Mayor Eric Angvall, DFL-Lester Prairie, gets our nod over incumbent Rep. Ron Shimanski, R-Silver Lake. We believe practical people are needed in St. Paul to solve problems, and Mr. Angvall’s ability to make day-to-day decisions running his hardware store for 15 years and as mayor of Lester Prairie for 14 years prepare him well.”

The Leader expressed hope that Angvall would be a less partisan representative:
“We believe a former mayor and current hardware store owner has the decision-making experience to serve people here well, too. Mr. Angvall was a GOP alternative delegate in Minneapolis, favors trail improvements, appears to have a less partisan agenda including supporting agriculture, economic development, education, energy, health care, the environment and transportation.”

Angvall understands small-city, rural problems

Leaders inspire us and move us to act. They stand out having the experience, energy and persistence to motivate us to tackle the job. They don’t necessarily have all the ideas. And it’s best when they know that.

Eric Angvall is this kind of person. If you know Eric, you already know this to be true. If you don’t know him yet, you owe it to yourself to look at his record spanning nearly 40 years of civic involvement for evidence.

Fourteen years as mayor of Lester Prairie means he has experience dealing with rural and small city problems. As a substitute teacher, he knows firsthand the challenges facing rural schools. And 17 years as owner/operator of the hardware store in Lester Prairie tells you, he knows that dollars don’t come easily for anyone, including small business owners.
Eric Angvall will actively seek all opinions and input. He won’t be invisible. Our congressman, Collin Peterson has produced radio advertising in support of Eric.

I urge you to help put this kind of leader to work and vote for Eric Angvall as District 18A Representative.

We all want to select candidates who best represent our own views and support the issues we believe in. We entrust those candidates to be our voice—and we all want our voice to be heard. I encourage people in District 18A to join me in voting for Eric Angvall for state representative. During the last 15-plus years that I have known and worked with Eric, he has proven his love of students and his strong community ties. Whether it be hosting foreign exchange students or substituting at our local school system, it is apparent that he truly believes that we must work with our youth to enhance our future. Another huge way in which he has proven his desire to help our kids is that he and a core group of pastors started a community youth task force that has been extremely successful.

As a small business owner, Eric understands the needs of businesses in our district. He has always worked for ways to encourage local support of business and knows the importance of the inter-relationship of all local entities. He has consistently worked to have city, township and school district leadership cooperate on issues.

Most importantly, Eric has gone to all the units of government in the district and has pledged to work for us. I know if we honor him with our vote that we will have a strong voice for us in St. Paul.
